Firm History

Founded in 1960 as Melvin Dion Law Offices, Dion, Solomon & Shapiro is a rare instance of more than sixty years of legal practice under continuous family leadership.

We’ve called 1801 Market Street home since the building’s debut in 1980, and in 1996, Jeffrey Solomon and Gary Dion – founder Melvin’s son – were added as partners. The firm simultaneously merged with the practice of longtime colleague Al Shapiro, and Dion, Solomon & Shapiro was born.

In 2026, Jeffrey’s son Matthew was added as a shareholder to continue the unmatched legal services that the firm has offered since 1960.

Our name changed and resources expanded, but our focus remains unchanged: To build upon our legacy of proven advocacy for individuals in disputes with large corporations and insurance companies. Dion, Solomon & Shapiro provides ongoing personal attention, client contact, and a welcoming and calming environment as we offer legal support – and ultimately justice – for our wronged clients.
